ABOUT
Bearing Witness is a viewer inter-active installation in which the work becomes sui generis for each person as they step inside and take on their own role within the piece. Through this interaction each viewer’s own story and perspective become an integral element in interpreting the piece. She asks us to explore issues of representation, history, politics, and identity. Whether it be of immense joy, extreme sorrow, horror, or beauty, spiritual or secular, the moment of birth or a crucifixion. The viewer is asked to witness without indifference or judgement, with the combination of understanding and the ineffable.
This installation uses traditional and unconventional methods and materials. She uses large format, 3’x 8’ photographic Infrared murals suspended within expanded metal cages, cast concrete figures, soundtracks, constantly growing surfaces, three boats hanging vertically, gently in motion representing life’s constant, moment by moment change.
